My review of the Palovia Skin Laser - a home treatment for fine lines and wrinkles

My review of the Palovia Laser – a home treatment for fine lines and wrinkles

My PaloVia Review

I’ve been battling wrinkles for the last few years and I’ve tried a lot of different skincare regiments and I’ve shared many of those trials with you. I’ve just completed a new at home laser treatment trial and I wanted to share it with you.

I’ve been using the only FDA-cleared at-home laser system called the PaloVia Skin Renewing Laser. It’s a small hand-held device with a rechargeable battery that’s applied to the wrinkles around your eye once a day for 30 days and then a few times a week after that to maintain your results.

The entire process takes about 5 minutes from start to finish and it’s easy. Start with a clean and dry face, apply the included PaloVia Pre-Treatment Gel to the area you’ll be treating, apply the PaloVia laser along the line of your wrinkles (up to 25 pulses per use), then use your normal skincare products.

How the PaloVia Skin Renewing Laser Works

Does the PaloVia Skin Renewing Laser Work?

In my opinion it’s making a difference. I don’t think you can tell as much in my pictures as you can in person, but my wrinkles are disappearing. I’ve not completed the full 4-weeks of the initial treatment because of a trip in which I wasn’t able to take my laser along, so I still have 5 days of the initial stages and I expect even better results in the coming week. I do find that it changed the texture of my skin, making it rougher to the touch, but it’s not noticeable and the feeling goes away after a couple of days.

I also have some lingering redness in the very thin-skinned area beneath my eyes but it’s easily covered by make-up and not noticeable at all. I do expect it to fade and if it was bothersome, I could reduce the power to low and I’d have less redness.

Hints and Tips for Using the PaloVia Skin Renewing Laser

  • Interrupts: Use just enough gel to lightly coat the area you’ll be treating – too much gel can interrupt a scan. If this happens, clean the gel from the treatment window and try again. Press the hand unit firmly into your skin and pull down gently – this also appears to help prevent misfires.
  • Pain: Use a lower setting if the pain is too intense, but for best results use the highest setting you can handle. I found leaving the gel on my skin and then covering the area with an ice pack brought instant relief and quicker recovery time. As my skin got more accustomed to it, I no longer iced my face. The residual “pain” feels like a sunburn and is gone within a few hours (your experience could vary).
  • Dry Skin and Flakiness – I never experienced any dry or flaking skin. I have oily skin plus it was in great condition when I started (I’d just finished a 4-week trial of an anti-aging product). I also believe leaving the gel on after treatment helped as well. I used the laser at night and slept with the Pre-Treatment Gel on with no ill effects to my skin.

Do I Recommend the PaloVia Skin Renewing Laser?

Yes! It’s easy to use, appears to be making changes, and requires no more than 5 minutes of my time and best of all there’s no mess and no chemicals. For me that’s a huge plus. I do suggest that people start using the laser as soon as the fine lines start forming (for me that was age 40). At nearly 51, my wrinkles are set in their ways and I have to work harder to get rid of them than I would have at 40. Start earlier and maintain your skin and don’t play catch up like I am.
