The Maid of Warsaw in Old Town Square in Warsaw, Poland (May 2012)
While it looks ancient, this “old town” was actually rebuild after World War II. The war and especially the Warsaw Uprising in 1944 devastated the area. Warsaw was torched, bombarded, and razed, including this Old Town area.
The Polish people rebuilt it to almost an exact replica of what they’d lost.
