Domino's Pizza - good news - the Alfredo sauce is now vegetarian!

I stopped eating Domino’s Pizza shortly after I visited their headquarters last year (read: A Look at the Domino’s Pizza Dough Making Process). It was there that I found out the beloved Alfredo sauce that I loved was not vegetarian. I was seriously horrified to think that I’d been eating it without having any idea that it might be made with animal products (chicken broth – who puts chicken broth in their Alfredo!?!).

The hubby weighs the option - his or mine?!?

Thankfully, when the team at Domino’s ended my food crush they promised that they were working on changing their ingredients to make the vegetarians of the world, like me, happy.  Well, that day has finally come and to celebrate, I just ordered my favorite Artisan pizza – spinach & feta – which is being made while I type this.  It’s Alfredo sauce, feta, Parmesan-Asiago, baby spinach, and onions on their artisan-style crust (beautifully thin and chewy) and it serves 2 (or me for dinner tonight and lunch tomorrow).  The meat-loving hubby is getting a Chicken & Bacon Carbonara Artisan pizza – blended marina and Alfredo for a really unique sauce, grilled chicken breast, smoked bacon, cheese, diced tomatoes, and a dash of oregano. I’m practically drooling thinking about it!

But this isn’t the only change Domino’s has made recently. Domino’s Pizza is now offering a gluten-free crust! While it’s not something I currently need for my diet, it’s nice to know that it’s available and better yet that they’re listening to their customers! Now if I could only convince them to take out the aritificial flavors and chemicals and start offering organic pizza  – I’m a firm believer that it would not only benefit them and their customers, but he whole entire food chain when a major corporation like them starts supporting organic growers …baby steps I guess!  For now I’m just going to impatiently wait the next 15 minutes for my Artisan pizza to arrive.

That was fast!  It’s here, it’s delicious, and I’m happy! It’s nice to know that for an occasional treat I can eat delivery pizza again!  Thanks Domino’s for listening!
