Disney is slamming these 5 titles back into their animation vault on 4/30/12. Once that happens, only the copies left in circulation will be available. We’re saying goodbye to Belle, Chip, Mrs. Potts, Lumiere, and the Beast.  We’re also bidding farewell to Bambi, Thumper, Faline, and the rest of the forest friends.

How long will these beloved Disney characters be stuck inside the vault? Generally a film spends about seven years in the vault, but it’s up to Disney when and if they ever come out again and in what format.

One particular title is a must-own if  you’re even considering buying a 3D TV in the next few years.  Pick up the Beauty and the Beast in 3D, it’s phenomenal and so much better than the 2D version.

Spring 2012 Disney vault inductees:

With streaming and digital downloads becoming so popular, we have to wonder if this format will be gone soon.  It’s possible this is the last time we’ll see these titles in physical form.  As someone who’s owned VHS, DVD, Blu-Ray, and now 3D, I will admit, streaming and downloads are attractive; but there are times when only a physical copy will do.

So what classic film is coming out of the vault next?  Cinderella in a Diamond Edition on Blu-ray this fall and to celebrate Disney has teamed with famed shoe designer, Christian Louboutin, to design a glass “Cinderella” slipper to commemorate the release.
