Bob’s Burgers (Season 1) was released today on DVD by Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. It’s the #1 animated premier of this 2010/2011 season and it’s filled with some awesomely quirky characters who do some really crazy stuff. But then that’s the fun of animation – you can go over the top and it adds to the fun. It follows Bob Belcher, a third-generation restaurateur, who’s running Bob’s Burgers with the assistance of his wife and kid. Bob’s is a greasy spoon with spotty service and a lousy location, but Bob is convinced his burgers make it all worthwhile.
This new DVD goes even further than the TV series with uncensored moments and outakes where the cast go off script. You’ll get a chance to laugh at the stars, H. Jon Benjamin, Kristen Schaal and the rest of the cast, and their uncensored dialog. There are also additional pieces to enjoy like an extended piece about how Louise comes up with the names for the ‘burger of the day’ and a “studio pitch piece” that served as the original demo by Loren Bouchard plus an discussion about the changes that were made in the casting and characters.
There’s also a music video, Lifing up the skirt of the Night, which was inspired by an original song from the series plus audio commentaries.
Bob’s Burgers features the amazing voice talents of H. Jon Benjamin (“Archer”) as well as Kristen Schaal (“Flight of the Concords”).
