Following the release of the new movie “Mirror Mirror” by Relativity Media, comes an original motion picture soundtrack by Alan Menken. The 17-song album contains two versions of  “I Believe in Love” by Nina Hart; both of which are performed by Lily Collins, who also stars in the film as Snow White. The Mirror Mirror Mix, was produced by Sam Hollander and Tarsem Singh.  The second version, the Evil Queen Mix, was remixed by Neal Avron.  Listen to “I Believe In Love” (Evil Queen Mix) here.

Beyond the two pop song remixes, the balance of the music is typical Alan Menken.  It’s lyrical, broad, and beautiful.  The Oscar®-winning composer (8 wins at last count) scored the film and this soundtrack is the result of his efforts. You’ve heard his music in such popular films as Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Enchanted, Pocahontas, Hercules, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Little Shop of Horrors, Newsies, and Tangled.  His current work includes Newsies and Leap of Faith on Broadway.

Menken conveys the storyline through his melodies.  “Love At First Sight” is gentle and wonderfully sweet and sets the tone for an awaking of the heart. Very much in contrast to “The Queen Wants Snow Killed” where sinister tones along with a menacing beat clearly show the peril that Snow White is about to find herself in.

About Mirror Mirror

Out in theaters now, this is the retelling the fairy tales story of Snow White. The film features Lily Collins (The Blind Side) as the princess in exile.  She’s sent there by the evil Queen, played by Oscar®-winning actor, Julia Roberts.  But seven rebellious dwarfs join with Snow White to help her reclaim her birthright and along the way win the hand of her prince played by Armie Hammer (The Social Network).  There’s jealousy, betrayal, romance, and a lot of laughs with Nathan Lane (The Birdcage) playing the bungling and hapless servant to the Queen.  Mirror Mirror” is rated PG.
