I was among a very lucky group of press to get to watch the first 30-minutes of Disney Pixar‘s upcoming movie, “BRAVE.”  While the film is not complete, and the portion that we viewed is not in its final form, I have to tell you that it was phenomenal.

The characters, music, and look of the film are enchanting and I immediately fell in love with them all.  The audience of press and bloggers appeared to enjoy the movie as much as I; laughing often, chortling a time or two, and groaning with despair when the sneak peek ended and we were left to wonder how the the story ends.

The voice talent in the film is fabulous. Scottish actress Kelly Macdonald voices the headstrong young princess and although she’s 20+ years older than her animated character, she does an amazing job at being a cheeky adolescent.  I simply adored Billy Connolly as King Fergus; he’s a great match for his very proper animated queen, Emma Thompson.

There’s so much more I’d love to tell you about “BRAVE” – the characters, the music score, and the gorgeous animation  – but it will be a few weeks before I can tell you more about the film.  Until then, check out the trailers and add this one to your must-see list of films this summer.  It’s sure to be a hit with both boys and girls as well as their parents!

BRAVE “The Prize” Trailer

This scene was one of my favorites.  The three first born of the clans are competing for Merida’s hand.  But she’ll have none of that!  She concocts a plan to compete for her own hand.

We saw “BRAVE” in 2D, however the theater production will be in 3D.  I think the 3D aspect of it will add to the story and the richness of the film.
