Freezer - After (almost as neat and pretty as the day I organized it)

Freezer - After (almost as neat and pretty as the day I organized it)

So a few weeks ago I posted about my attempt to organize my freezer and refrigerator (read: Fridge and Freezer Organization – Tips, Tricks, And Costs Involved) and I just wanted to give you a quick update on how that worked out for us. If  you remember, I chose these to areas of my kitchen because they were by far the biggest source of daily frustration.  Every time I opened one or the other I was attacked by falling objects or had to clean up another spilled mess.

The sad reality of disorganization - the fridge is back to this.

The sad reality of disorganization - the fridge is back to this.

I made use of my Brother P-Touch  Label Maker  and some clear refrigerator bins and went to work.  I emptied them both out, tossed all of the out-of-date food (what a waste) cleaned them out, and then restocked them using the bins and labels to clearly mark where each item belonged.

So how’d my family do?  They sucked. It was obvious after just a week or so that piling up things was their preferred way “organizing” and about 3 weeks later I gave up on the fridge and removed most all of the organizing bins. The ones in the door are still there and the freezer is just like I left it (mostly because no one else uses it).

So while my family failed at making a lasting change, the Brother P-Touch  Label Maker labels didn’t.  They look as fresh as the day I put them on and when I re-purposed the refrigerator bins into my office they were easy to remove and relabel.  I’m a huge fan of the label maker even if my family chooses to ignore them.
