You’ve likely heard of Scentsy. It’s a company that was formed in 2004 that sells wickless candles and decorative warmers. Candles are popular – they set a mood, impart fragrance, and make a celebration special.
Why wickless? They’re safer than traditional candles with their open flames. In fact, in 2007, Paul Martin, deputy chief of the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control shared with The Today Show that as many as 44% of candle-sparked fires begin in the bedroom and 36% of the fires were believed to have been caused by the misuse of candles. Most often candles were left unattended, were forgotten, or were inadequately supervised. Combustible materials left too close to a candle accounted for 18% of the fires. Scentsy uses a light bulb to heat wax in a decorative warmer making it a safer alternative. (Source: Fires Caused By Candles A Growing Concern – CBS News)
Scentsy products are sold through the direct selling approach. They use consultants to demonstrate and sell their products at home parties. Customers who host a party receive free or half-priced products to thank them and encourage them to invite quests who’ll appreciate and order their products.
Warmers come in all shapes, sizes, finishes, and price ranges. The premium line is the most expensive ranging in the $35 per unit price range. I chose the Charlemagne Full-Size Scentsy Warmer. It’s stunning! It’s glazed in high-gloss cream with a blue and brown base coat. An embossed fleur-de-lis design is on the base and the edge has a sweet embossed scallop design. A silver medallion finishes the piece. It’s just one of the beautiful warmers available and while this one is in the French Country style, there are plenty of others that are modern, contemporary, fun, or sweet. Something for every decor.
The wax available for your warmer is varied as well. We sampled three very different scents –Whiteout, Sunkissed Citrus, and Vanilla Cream. They were all fabulous so I feel confident ordering additional scents without hesitation. I do wish they carried an all-natural line. Their scents do use some Essential and Absolute Oils which I love, but they also use Synthetic Oils which are man-man and I personally have removed from my life. I wish they’d produce a line with just the natural essences.
The wax can be remelted and reused until the scent is dissipated and then it needs to be disposed of and new wax added. There are lots of things to like about Scentsy and I’m hoping as they continue to grow, they’ll look at adding a line for people like me.
Scentsy is sold in the US, Puerto Rico, Guam, Canada, and Europe.
