I got the chance to try out the CalNaturale svelte Sustained Energy Protein Drink and I’m hooked!  This organic energy drink is smooth and creamy  and meant to provide you with lasting nutrition and sustained energy.  With only 9 grams of sugar per full carton, it won’t send your blood sugar soaring and it’s also a tasty  source of fiber and is dairy-free and gluten-free.  But the best part is that it’s got 16g of organic protien from soy milk!  But is it good?  I’m happy to say, YES!

I tried several flavors and my favorite by far is the Chocolate.  A close second is the French Vanilla (which for those of you using flavored creamers, this would be a great, natural substitution – have you looked at the ingredients in those things? Yuck!) and since it’s the holidays, I spiced mine up with some freshly grated nutmeg and some all-spice.  It was a fabulous mock eggnog!  I’m not a tea/coffee drinker so I skipped the Spiced Chai flavor as well as the Cappuccino flavored, but in reading reviews, they get high marks from tasters.

What I liked about the CalNaturale Svelte is that they’re organic, have no artificial colors or flavors, are made from non-GMO soy beans, and Stevia.  Plus they come sealed in aseptic boxes so they don’t have to be refrigerated until opened.  Although they taste better cold, you can pour them over ice if you’re in a hurry or traveling without refrigeration, which means no more searching for something decent to eat at the mini-mart or drive-thru.

The calorie count for the single-serving drink is about 260 calories – perfect for a snack or as in my case, I drink half a bottle with a fruit or vegetable twice a day.  I also love the cute packaging.   I love the positive affirmations on them and they just make me smile (I’m easy like that).  There’s not a thing I can think of that I didn’t like about the drinks and I’ll be adding them to my regular shopping list!

Svelte can be bought at local retailers like QFC, Bartell Drugs, Whole Foods and online at Amazon.com.  Check out the store locator page for the stores in your area.  Each 15.9 ounce container sells for between $2.69 to $2.99. (steeper discounts are available through Amazon’s Subscribe & Save program).
