Sometimes when a brand upgrades a game by adding electronics to it, it’s just for the sake of rebranding and attracting more customers, and not always focused on actually improving the game.  That’s NOT the case with UNO Roboto!   I’ve played UNO for decades, literally, and have always loved it as a fast-paced, easy game most anyone can play.  It doesn’t take a lot of set-up, clean-up, or rules, and it’s just great fun.  UNO Roboto is all that and more!

We had a game night at my sister’s house on Sunday and UNO Roboto was a hit with everyone ages 23 to 73! The game takes the best of the original and adds the fun of the unknown by having a little robot switch up the game, without notice, and in so many fun ways.  The card part of the game is the same – the first to get rid of all of her cards is the winner – but how you get there is different.  And there’s the “House Rules” part that adds even more fun.   Our house rules were mostly “touch your nose” but with some more thought they could have been even better.  A house rule is a  challenge determined at the beginning of the game and randomly announced by the robot at some time in the game.  The last person to perform the HR draws two cards.

UNO Roboto Game Review

How much fun was the game?  Well, it didn’t make it home with me.  My sister hung on to it to play on Thanksgiving and again over the weekend on a trip away.  I’m thinking I’m going to have to go visit the game at her house. 🙂

UNO Roboto Game Tips

  • When you record your name make it obnoxious – it helps to hear it better when you’re instructed to do something.
  • Read the rules thoroughly before you start.  There aren’t many, but I missed that you’re supposed to press down on the robots head when you discard and that’s what adds the fun to the game.
  • Turn the volume all the way up – with all the giggling and smack talking you’ll have a hard time hearing him.  This is the first electronic game that’s had a volume control and one that I wish was actually louder!
  • Change the batteries – the batteries that come in it are for the store demonstration and they aren’t intended to last long.  Don’t disappoint your recipient or guests by not having fresh batteries ready.
  • Have fun!
