Two days ago I received a product in the mail for review, The Knot Genie. It’s a detangling brush that claims to “magically get rid of knots” and in all honesty, when I was first asked to do the review I was very skeptical. My daughter has very curly and very long hair, which combined, makes brushing nearly impossible. For the last four years I’ve spent hundreds of dollars on products that claim to make detangling curly hair easier and less painful but unfortunately, I’ve never been impressed by any of them.
I’ve tried lotions, creams, oils, wide-tooth combs, soft-bristled brushes, conditioners and anything else that promised to create more manageable hair. I’ve even tried very high end products thinking I’d get better results if I paid more money. Not true. No matter what I’ve put in my daughters hair, what I tried to comb or brush it with, whether it was wet or dry, long or short, nothing has ever worked. Every night we had to comb it became a night of screaming and crying. It’s actually gotten so bad at times that we’ve skipped washing her hair for a few days just to avoid the torture of combing it. Recently she even asked if we could just cut her hair short before the new school year starts so that she wouldn’t have to brush it in the mornings.
I would have done anything to avoid the grueling 30-60 minute ritual of combing her hair.
Enter Knot Genie.
(Did you hear the harps?)
Plain and simple, the Knot Genie Detangling Brush works and it works well. It’s the very first hair product we’ve tried that actually lived up to what it was supposed to do.
What used to take close to an hour, took us all of ten minutes. My daughters long, curly hair went from a knotty, matted mess to silky, detangled locks without shedding even one tear. It was so quick and painless that she actually thought I was joking when I told her I was done.
Needless to say, I would recommend the Knot Genie to anyone with any type of hair. If it worked this well on my daughters curly, unruly hair, it must glide through straight hair with incredible ease.
“The magic trick behind the Knot Genie™ is one we are happy to reveal. It all has to do with the different lengths of teeth on the brush. When brushing, they bend just right, to gently untangle the hair. And because of this lack of stress, the hair’s cuticle stays unharmed… revealing the smoothest, shiniest hair you’ve ever seen.” – KnotGenie.com
