Butterfly on a Smallfruit Beggarticks
My son is in a wildland area in Arkansas working a small wildfire. There’s a lot of downtime at the end of a fire…a lot of watching, waiting, wetting, and repeating all of that over and over to be sure the fire will not reoccur. This is his first fire and it’s a little boring…so he’s started taking photos with his cellphone and uploading them to Facebook. I love it because it makes him feel closer to home instead of thousands of miles away. Plus, I get to see an area I’ve never been to.
I giggled when he sent this one because of the name of the flower. We call them Marigolds up here and I thought he was saying that was the name of the butterfly. Nope, that’s the flower’s name. I love the name. A little bit of nature in the middle of a burned out area. Mother Nature has a way of saving herself!
