My dream sports bra

In my dreams, this is what I wear.....

I’ve been looking for a Sports Bra since I started the 20-Second Fitness routine. The program is impossible for a woman with a *ahem* large breast like me to do without one.  I loved the Champion Sports Bras style, but they’re meant for women with less support requirements.  I’ve been passively shopping online for a few weeks after giving up completely on finding one locally when I was contacted by the fabulous people at BareNecessities.com to try one out.

First of all, I’ve been a customer of BareNecessities.com since before 2003. How do I know this?  Because I wrote a review about them on Epinions.com, please excuse the bad title – The website offers some great features and I found a hard-to-find item in no time !  I’m happy to say that their service is still top notch as is their selection.  The only reason I didn’t shop there first is that I really wanted to try the sports bra on first, they’re so different from a regular bra.

So BareNecessities.com offered me their Champion Medium Impact Seemless Softcup Sports Bra.  Again, I love the style and it’s exactly what I’m looking for, but I just didn’t think it was enough for my DD’s.  So I opted for their Lunaire Maximum Control Underwire Sports Bra with the added benefit that it’s constructed from Coolmax fabric – a win/win!  Coolmax fabric wicks away any moisture and helps to keep you cool….I love that.

My new sports bra

Now, picture this petite woman with B-cups as me with DD's....

When my new sports bra arrived I was impressed by the feel of the fabric.  I slipped it on, easy to do which isn’t always the case with traditional sports bras, and was impressed immediately by the comfort and fit.  The only smidgen of a surprise is that it’s a *ahem* pointy style.  Perhaps I’ve been wearing minimizer bras for too long.  I’m not used to so much support and projection.  The underwires are as comfortable as they can be.  All underwires dig into my rib cage, the penance paid for big breasts.  The band is wide, but it could be slightly wider – it did turn under on me a bit.  The generous cups are cut high so it’s very modest but I’d never wear it without a top over, that’s a personal preference but with the underwire it feels too much like a bra and less like a sports top.

The adjustable straps have plenty of length for a tall girl like me, unheard of in cheap bras, and although it’s hand-wash/hang dry, I washed and dried it on delicate and it looks fabulous.  I won’t hand-wash, I know my limitations, and I’m thankful it’s constructed well and made from quality fabrics, so with a few precautions (hooked closed and then encased in a pillow case before tossing in the washer) it will be fine.

All-in-all I’m extremely happy with the new bra and now I have no excuse not to do the workout….well, except that I learned to knit this week and I’m slightly addicted.   It’s definitely not a high-impact sport requiring such support. 🙂 Oh, and my apologies for the stock photos but there’s no way I’m posting a photo of me wearing it!
