Rockin‘ Green Laundry Detergent– eco-friendly cleaning products are usually better known for their cloth diaper cleaning abilities. Since we’re about 22 years past diaper duty, it’s nice to know that it works on our clothes, too.
We tried out two of Rockin‘ Green‘s scents and were pleasantly surprised by how little soap was necessary to get our clothes clean. Following the recommendation on the back of the package, we used two tablespoons of detergent per wash. Even with that small amount of detergent, our clothes were clean – they looked and felt clean, and they smelled fresh – they smelled clean, NOT perfumed. Best of all, it was just pennies per wash!
Rockin‘ Green is dye-free and naturally scented (with the exception of Bare Naked Baby, which is completely scent-free). Their scents are very light only natural fragrance oils are used, so the scent options are unusual for detergents, but in a nice way. Again, the scents are so light that I had to stick my nose into the bag to smell it, but I love that, I just want clean clothes, not scented clothes.
Rockin‘ Green is made of safe, phosphate free ingredients, so it’s better for the planet and gentler on our skin. It’s made from sodium carbonate, sodium percarbonate, sodium citrate, sodium sulfate, surfactants, and fragrance oils (scented versions). The texture of the soap is a little different than standard powdered laundry detergent. The grains are very fine and stick together ever so slightly.
I’m very happy with the results of our laundry challenge, and I’m surprised that I’m considering switching back to a “powdered” brand. I changed long ago because traditional powdered soap left white marks on my dark clothes. I hated paying more for a liquid, but I figured that since I didn’t have to rewash my darks, it was OK. This may just make me switch back. I love how small and compact the packaging is – so much less waste – so it’s eco-friendly and I love that.
Now if I can just convince the hubby that two tablespoons is enough. He’s part of the more-is-more club….he needs to stop that.
