Evidently I’m not a character ’cause USA Network‘s eleven Character Approved blog contributors  have just released their  Top Five suggestions for a perfect summer season in everything from film, food, music, design, writing, and technology.   And the most interesting list is the 5 must-see summer films posted by film writer Bags Hooper (you can read his  post here), and I gotta say, I don’t agree with his list!

I thought I’d put my top 5 list of summer movies up against Bags’ list….so what do you think?  Is my age showing?  Can I help it if I like documentaries and period movies?  I’ve never been a blockbuster-type movie goer.

Bags Hooper’s top 5 must-see summer films:

  1. Life, Above All
Life, Above All Blu-ray or DVD
  2. Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes

  4. The HelpAug 12 (I saw a sneak peek – bring tissues!  It’s so good!) Based on the best-selling book The Help, they do a fabulous job of staying true to the story.
The Help (Three-Disc Combo: Blu-ray/DVD + Digital Copy)
  5. I Don’t Know How She Does It– Sept 16 (technically not summer, but I loved the book – here’s hoping they don’t ruin it)
I Don't Know How She Does It - Sarah Jessica Parker, Pierce Brosnan, & Greg Kinnear

Since I’ve already seen “Winnie the Pooh”  and “The Help” I can say those are definite must see movies.  As for the rest, I can’t wait to see them.

You can check out all of the USA Character Approved Blogger’s top summer picks.  Who knows, maybe they’ll have an opening for a grumpy, senior blogger soon.

So, who’s list of top 5 must-see summer movies will you be seeing?
