toilet

We’ve lived in our home since 1988 and in that time we’ve replaced most of the appliances and had a few emergencies.  Nothing too tragic, thankfully, with the exception of the Christmas “flood”.  Our holiday was interrupted by a toilet that overflowed, swamped the bathroom, went through the heater vent down in the the furnace, underneath the walls and into the bedrooms (with carpeting) on both sides, down through the ceiling and onto the computer in the basement, and out into the hallway.  Yea, that was a lot of fun.

Thankfully a restoration company came and pulled up the carpets and floor and put in enormous rocket-shaped dehumidifiers to dry the place out.  Our Christmas tunes that year were enjoyed over the dun of the dryers.

We were lucky.  A few floors had to be replaced, but the furnace dried out and the computer keyboard had to be replaced but nothing else.  It could have been so much worse.  If you’ve invested in your home, you might want to protect that investment checking into home protection plans.

An AHS Home Warranty is a homeowner’s best defense against expensive repair and replacement bills.

AHS Home Warranty LogoThere are companies that can repair or replace many of the home system components and appliances that frequently breakdown.  American Home Shield (AHS) Home Warranty is one and their one-year contract covers a multitude of appliances and systems, the ones you depend on every day.

And the great thing is that you won’t have to undergo a home inspection as a condition to purchase*; your contract will cover components and appliances regardless of their age, make, or model*; and you only pay a trade service fee for each occurrence, no matter what the actual cost is to repair or replace the broken item*

AHS Basic Home Warranty coverage includes: your heating, plumbing and electrical systems, water heater, oven/range/cooktop, dishwasher, built-in microwave, garbage disposal, exhaust fan, ceiling fans, plumbing stoppages, and duct-work.

You can also expand your AHS coverage to include coverage for your central A/C, refrigerator, washer and dryer, garage door opener, well pump, pool and spa.

AHS offers several plans so you’ll be able to find an affordable one that fits your needs and budget. I don’t have a AHS plan, or any plan currently, but we’re considering one.  Please research all companies before you make a choice to be sure you’ve found the one with the coverage you need.
