flipflop wines are a casual collection of award-winning wines by California vintner, David Georges. His goal is to make great tasting wines that are accessible to everyday people like me, and to do it a way that’s inexpensive. The flipflop collection includes Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Grigio, Moscato, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Pinot Noir wines.
“With seven varietals, there is a flipflop wine for everyone, which is why we say ‘to each, their own’” says Georges. “I am excited to be able to craft expressive wines for everyday enjoyment… For anyone looking for a wine that expresses true varietal character and a great value, flipflop is the perfect choice. These wines are comfortable, unpretentious and they deliver on taste.”
I drink wine once or twice a year, but the hubby, brought up in a good Catholic family, has wine with dinner every night he’s home. He’s changed over the years from Chardonnay to Reisling and most recently Pinot Grigio. As he gets older, he no longer likes the sweeter wines and now looks for a wine that’s so dry it makes me pucker. I guess drinking Extra Dry Brut champagne has changed his tastes buds over the years. Me? I prefer a nice sweet wine. So when flipflop wines offered to let us try their wine, they kindly sent a bottle for both of us.
I’d planned to pull out the good wine glasses and take a few artfully arranged photos, but the wine didn’t last that long. We finished it in just one sitting, so the photos never happened. Now we had help, we didn’t drink both bottles by ourselves – but probably could have, they’re that good!
PLEASE drink responsibly and NEVER drink and drive….the fire fighter hubby doesn’t need any more business.
First you should know these bottles have screw caps. I loved it because getting a cork out in one piece is nearly impossible for me. I think we’ve invested in every kind of cork puller/opener imaginable, and I still can’t do it. I was thrilled at the easy open bottles. Who says you need a cork for the wine to be good?
My Riesling was wonderfully sweet. You’ll notice I don’t use typical wine language, “Medium-bodied, Riesling with peach, apricot and melon…” because I have no clue when a wine tastes medium or full-bodied, fruity or oaky. I just know whether I like it on how it compares to other Riesling’s I’ve had. I finished a glass and that’s something I haven’t done since the late 1980’s. The hubby found the Riesling much too sweet for his taste, but for a Riesling he thought it stacked up well against more expensive brands that he’s enjoyed over the years.
The hubby would have like his Pinot Grigio to be even drier, but he liked it and finished the bottle and would purchase it again. He’s so impressed with the flipflop brand that he’s really interested in trying out one of the dry reds soon.
At a suggested retail price of just $7 a bottle and with a taste that performs, I’d say that David Georges has accomplished his goals.

@Maggie @ Snag A Bargain,
It’s nice to find an inexpensive wine that tastes great. It’s definitely going to be our go-to wine for events.
Thanks!
