Crest® Pro-Health® Invigorating Clean Multi-Protection RinseThe hubby and I will be test driving a new mouthwash from Crest. Just released in March, Crest® Pro-Health® Invigorating Clean Multi-Protection Rinse, promises a “unique rinsing experience with ingredients that provide an invigorating sensation during use and a lasting cool freshness after use.”

Neither of us are regular users of mouth wash. I find my trusty Oral Braun electric toothbrush is enough to keep my plaque at bay (as my dentist check-ups confirm), but the hubby insists on using a manual toothbrush so dental visits for him are not as fun.  This rinse promises to help him out with that plaque problem just by rinsing with it twice a day.

What you get is a mouth rinse that contains alcohol so it’s not appropriate for all members of the family. It includes a child safety cap and the Crest® Pro-Health® Invigorating Clean Multi-Protection Rinse Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) notes that “ingestion of large amounts may produce signs of alcohol intoxication and stomach irritation. Ingestion by children may lead to hypoglycemia.” So it’s very important to keep this and any alcohol-based health and beauty product locked away.  You also need to be careful you don’t get it in your eyes or on your skin as it may cause irritation.

How does Crest® Pro-Health® Invigorating Clean Multi-Protection Rinse fit into my natural lifestyle? It doesn’t.  At all.  But the hubby is less worried about his health, so he’s doing the majority of the testing.  I did try it and was floored by how intense it was.  He found it more enjoyable, but still a bit wild.  It appears what we’re tasting is the burn of the alcohol. Both of us experienced a change in our taste buds after use.  Upon checking the Crest website, we determined that they think we’re unusual.  They say only a small percentage of people experience this and since they use FDA-approved ingredients, they don’t even mention it on the bottle.  I’m not sure yet why the alcohol is there, Crest makes several versions without, but as soon as I do I’ll share it with you.

The benefits promised are:

  • Kills germs
  • Reduces plaque
  • Helps prevent gingivitis
  • Keeps teeth cleaner longer (vs. brushing alone)
  • Freshens breath
  • Invigorating sensation
  • Confidence in your next dental check up – In a survey of over 100 Women’s Health readers selected to receive free samples of a new Crest Pro-Health Rinse, 89 percent felt more confident about their next dental check-up after regular use of Crest Pro-Health Invigorating Clean Rinse.[1]
I’ll be sharing more about the ingredients and our use (mostly the hubby’s) in the next week. Until then, visit the Crest Pro-Health Invigorating Clean Multi-Protection Rinse website to learn more.
