I’ve been using a popular anti-dandruff shampoo for about 20 years, maybe closer to 25. I’ve been trying to find an organic replacement because some of the chemicals in the dandruff shampoo have been shown to cause neurological disorders from prolonged use, and I have a neurological disorder.
While I’ll never be able to prove my MS in related to my shampoo, I do know that it’s time now that I do know about the issues to find a new shampoo. I’ve tried several organics, but they’ve all had disappointing results. Luckily, I think I’ve found the perfect replacement! Simply Organic sent me their Moisture Rich Hair & Scalp Wash and Rinse as well as a tube of organic lip balm to try. After two weeks of using it, I can say that I love it!The Simply Organic Moisture Rich Hair & Scalp Wash and Rinse has the most delightful smell – almost citrus but along the lines of green tea. It’s creamy, rich, and lathers well (although sudsing when washing is a whole ‘nother post). The rinse works perfectly for me in that I just need a detangler. I’m pretty lucky that even though I color my hair, it’s in great condition most of the time.
So far I have no sign of dandruff. I love that! And my hair is clean, shiny, and it looks fabulous. I still have to shampoo every day because I have extremely oily hair and have had since I was a teen. But I actually look forward to using it because it smells so fabulous and being organic, I know that the scent is from a safe source, unlike most commercial shampoos.
The price is impressive, ie, expensive. But I use so little that this 8oz bottle will last more than a month. Same for the conditioner/rinse. Still, it ranks in price with other salon products so if you’re already using one the price likely won’t scare you. If you’re using something off the grocery store shelf, be prepared for sticker shock. But remember, you’re getting quality products and ones that are good for you. If people researched that cheap shampoo they’re using on their heads, they’d be shocked.
I love and wholly recommend Simply Organic shampoo and conditioner and may try their oily-version next time, although the current one is doing a fabulous job.
You can purchase directly from the Simply Organic website, but I found additional options available on Amazon:
|8.5 oz size||32 (liter) size|
16.5 oz size
There are plenty of other items available from their line and I’ll likely purchase the 32 oz size as it saves over a dollar per ounce. I can refill the small bottle or use the shampoo dispenser we added to our shower years ago but stopped using.
