I’d have to say the craziest thing I ever did for one of my kids what to buy tickets to a sold out Green Day concert here in Seattle through Craigslist. Stupid because I paid in advance and was supposed to meet the person at the ticket office just before the show.  I remember telling my son that it was possible that we were being scammed, that we’d have made the trip in for nothing, and were about to loose a bunch of money.  But it was worth the risk to have him see his favorite group.

While we were waiting we got a glimpse of a band member through the open stage door, so heck, if nothing else, we had that and we got to check out their awesome tour bus. With just minutes to spare before our appointed meeting time, the fellow showed up.  He was from Canada and had come down to see the show. He said he figured I was either a really trusting person or a super-cool mom. I told him I was both.

We had a fabulous time. It was my son’s first or second concert and he was twelve at the time so I was his date.  I LOVE the memories we created and it was worth every penny and the risk of being scammed to make that moment happen.  Sorry I don’t have any photos.  Back then no one had digital cameras or cell phones with cameras.  Things have certainly changed in the last 12 years!

I thought about this trip while watching “The New Adventures of Old Christine” the other day. On the show of course things are over the top, but it’s about a mom that will do anything for her son.  I can relate to that.  Have you discovered the show? It’s on five nights a week now.  It’s on Lifetime in my area, but check here for you local listings.
