ten1You can help Mother earth, as well as women around the world, by purchasing new handcrafted recycled item from The Emancipation Network (T.E.N. Inc., www.madebysurvivors.com. The bags, which come in a variety of sizes, shapes and colors, are new product offering from TEN.

The Eco-Chic collection includes a fully-lined messenger bag, a zip top case, a camera/PDA case, a small handbag and wallet, and a zippered travel document case. Made from thousands of plastic carrier bags which formerly littered the streets and waterways of India, the bags have been recovered by paid ragpickers.  The bags are sanitized, cut into strips, and woven on a loom by women and teens in a remote village.

“These gifts will make any eco-friendly person proud to celebrate cleaning up the Earth and promoting justice and empowerment for women rescued from slavery and exploitation,” said Sarah Symons, founder of The Emancipation Network. “Survivors and village girls who are highly vulnerable to trafficking and exploitation gain safety, a chance for a better life, and self-sufficient work skills by crafting these handmade bags,” said Symons.
