I’ve been to Monterey, California several times, but I’ve never gotten a chance to put my feet in the sand or enjoy a few minutes exploring on my own. That’s all about to change as I join some of my favorite bloggers as we take a few days to explore Cannery Row and all it has to offer, and I couldn’t be happier. The few minutes I’ve had to there in the past has left me wanting to come back to spend more time in this picturesque area.
The National Steinbeck Center is dedicated to the life and works of author John Steinbeck. It was founded in 1998 and contains both an archival collection and special exhibitions. The Steinbeck Center is located on Main Street in Salinas, CA, in a beautiful modern building surrounded by an eclectic neighborhood with small-town feel. The Center is bright and welcoming and staff members are warm and friendly and obviously have a great love for their treasured author.

This new exhibit opened to the public on 4/12/14 and it’s one that you won’t want to miss. It’s the first of it’s kind and the chance for us to get up close and see what occupies our sea. It focuses on Cephalopods which includes octopuses, cuttlefish, nautilus, mollusks, and squid.
A few months ago I participated in a trip to Monterey County in California. I was in awe of the stunning coastline and vowed to come back again when I could really spend some time enjoying it all.
