I am a caretaker and Sabra, the woman I work with, and I are both huge fans of musical theater. We’re always looking at the future show announcements and picking the ones we may want to see while they are in town. So it was no surprise that Sabra really wanted to see Dirty Dancing while it is here at the Paramount from January 20 – February 1st.
My wife and I are huge Disney fans so when we got the chance to cover the opening night of “Beauty and the Beast” in Seattle, we said yes! It opened in the historic Paramount Theatre and if you haven’t been to the Paramount, you’ve been missing out. This elegant theatre is the perfect location for the KeyBank Broadway shows and especially this one with its opulent lobby and chandeliers.
The gift of live theatre is one they’ll remember!
My husband works a lot and he works a 24 hr shift, so getting a date night together is tough. When I asked my husband to attend the opening night of EVITA on New Year’s Eve in Seattle, I thought he’d say no. It’s a rare night home for him and it’s a night we rarely go out. My husband is a firefighter so he knows all too well the dangers of drunk drivers. But instead of saying no, he said yes immediately!
Opening night of “Priscilla, Queen of the Desert,” in Seattle was brilliant. The gender-bending musical was a hit with the audience from the moment the curtain went up. The show is made up of some great songs, spectacular costumes, and some intensely talented cast members.
I love musicals. I don’t think I’ve seen one I didn’t love. There’s something about the live aspect of the stage that I adore. That said, filming a stage show for the home video crowd rarely goes well and sadly Shrek the Musical suffers from the format.
