I assumed I didn’t like wine until I tried Moscato. It turns out the sweet wine is just my style. I’m not alone; many people enjoy the taste. So much so that the folks at Gallo Family Vineyards make three different Moscato varieties. Their White Moscato has hints of ripe citrus, honey, and peaches. It’s best served chilled and is an excellent wine to add to your favorite lemonade mix. Add some seltzer water or lemon-lime soda to give it a sparkle. It’s said to pair well with spicy Asian or Mexican flavors as well as dessert.
Gallo Family Vineyards Red Moscato is what they call a medium body. It’s less sweet than the white but still has the same citrus and peach elements as the White Moscato, but it brings a berry finish. They call it their “cheese and wine.” pairing wine. They also recommend gorgonzola to enjoy with it. I’ll stay with my cheddar thanks.
Then there’s the third variety of the trio, the Gallo Family Vineyards Pink Moscato. With the fruit flavors of both red and white with a hint of orange and berry. This one is also best chilled, and they suggest pairing it with an ice cream sundae.
My favorite? The Gallo Moscato White. I love it poured over a mix of frozen berries that keep it icy cool. As the fruit thaws, it’s soaked in the wine so provide spoons for your guests, they may want to enjoy it too. It’s also perfect in this Peachy Mint cocktail that combines the flavor of mint, lime, and peaches with a mix of rum and White Moscato.
- ¼ cup frozen peaches
- 3 springs fresh mint
- ½ fresh lime, juiced
- 1 tsp
super-fine sugar - 1 oz white rum
- 4 oz Gallo White Moscato Wine
- Directions:
- In a small blender, blend the peaches, mint, lime juice, and sugar until thoroughly incorporated (about 30 seconds).
- Add the white rum and Moscato and stir.
- Strain into a large wine or collins glass filled with ice or additional frozen peaches.
- Garnish with a sprig of mint or leave it as it is.
- If you don't like it with the mint leaves in the drink (the best part for me), muddle them in the bottom of a cocktail shaker and add the blended ingredients and rum. Shake. Then add wine and stir.

That sounds amazing. I might share one with my mom on Sunday 🙂
That sounds fun! Let me know how you like it. I prefer mine without the rum, but everyone else likes it. I guess I’m just a lightweight 🙂
