I received a copy of Disneynature BEARS to facilitate this review; all opinions are my own.
Disneynature BEARS, the newest film in the series takes place in Alaska where we meet Sky and her adorable bear cubs, Amber and Scout. We also have Magnus the bear “king” who’s a highly respected male and Chinook who’s been exiled, but challenges Magnus in an attempt to get back in.
Additional Disneynature Titles
The film crew traveled throughout the wilds of Alaska to follow this little family and to discover how important they are to the ecosystem of the Alaskan wilderness. What they created was a film that’s heartwarming, funny, sad, and tear inducing – a perfect Disneynature film.
Disneynature BEARS Special Features and Extras
Jane Goodall makes a visit to observe the bears, her first experience in doing so. She’s been focused on the cause of the chimpanzees for decades. It’s fun to see her get excited about the bears.

You’ll love the inside look at nature filming in action. The filmmakers share the behind-the-scenes look at what goes into creating a film like this. I had the chance to speak to one of the directors after CHIMPANZEE and what they must endure, over months and months of standing in hot, damp, and buggy locations, is insane. All for a few moments on film that will tell the story.
They also prepared a guide to living with bears so that we don’t make an impact on their habitat. As humans keep pushing further and further out into their domain, they’re having to push back and put themselves in harms way to keep their families fed.

This is a film you’ll want to own and watch over and over. Kids will love the cute and adorable bears and will understand a little more about the interaction between humans and bears and the importance of making sure we don’t push them into extinction.

I wanted to see it at the movies and missed it. I’m glad it’s out on DVD!
Nature shows like this are great. They’re perfect for teaching kids about nature.
My Mom absolutely loves DisneyNature movies. She’s looking forward to seeing this one.
I haven’t watched this eat because I’m afraid I’ll cry. Haha! But I’m going to. It looks amazing!
Oh yea, I had to close my eyes at several parts…but I’m a vegetarian…seeing things eat other things is something I can’t do. I know it’s the circle of life, I just don’t have to watch it 🙂
My kids have been wanting to see this, so I think we will be checking it out one of these last few weekends of summer 🙂
It’s so sweet and touching. There are sad parts, but they’re teachable moments and not just to shock.
