My husband will only eat Ranch dressing on his salads and he’ll only eat one brand – Hidden Valley. That’s been the case for about 15 years now. No matter how many times I try to get him to stray from his favorite, he refuses because he loves the taste. So when he saw that they had come out with new sandwich spreads he put it on his list of “must try” new foods.

Hidden Valley Ranch Sandwich Spreads

These new Hidden Valley Ranch Sandwich Spreads are made with cream cheese and white bean so the texture is much different than traditional Hidden Valley dressing. But it’s because of these ingredients that they’re lower in fat and have less calories.

My husband has been home at lunchtime the last few days which is really unusual. I thought I’d take advantage of him being here to help me do some taste testing. I pulled some meats and cheeses that I thought would really highlight the flavors of the sandwich spread, plus a few choices for breads, and I started experimenting.

Sandwich Recipe: Smoked Deli & Provolone Sandwich

My final creation was a rustic sandwich with nitrate-free ham, smoked turkey, Genoa salami. I added provolone cheese, a nice tanginess and crunch from a dill pickle slice, and the Hidden Valley Ranch Smoked Bacon Ranch, but really any one of the four flavors could be used. I baked the sandwich at 400 degrees for 7 minutes and then delivered it to my hardworking husband who was working outside. I got a gloved thumbs-up for taste and heartiness.

I made myself a vegetarian version on 21-grain bread with the provolone cheese, pickle, baby spinach, and the Oven Roasted Garlic Parmesan spread. Delish!
