Disney and BGCA Back to School Supply Drive

I participated in back-to-school campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Boys & Girls Clubs of America. I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating.

My Twitter and Facebook feeds are filled with snaps of kids going back to school. So many hopeful faces and happy parents. I miss sharing those same days with my kids, but I have such fond memories.

Every year from kindergarten through college, we made the first and last day of every school year special. One thing we didn’t do was take a photo. But we have a few and I cherish them.

While the beginning of the year can be an exciting time, there’s a very sad statistic about school that many of us don’t acknowledge. That’s the fact that one million students every year fail to graduate high school. Let that number sink in for a minute. One million. That’s a lot of families who are struggling.

BGCA & Disney School Supply Drive

It’s possible some of them struggle from the beginning of the school year by a lack of supplies or support. As a community, we can be there for them. Make a donation directly but if you’re not able to, check out the Boy and Girls Club of America and Disney online supply drive. Play a simple pop-quiz style game and for every five correct answers, Disney will donate supplies to the BGCA for students in need.

If you’re a family who’s struggling, find resources and information so you can help your student succeed on the Boys & Girls Club of America site as well. We can’t afford to continue this million student loss. Our kids are just too valuable to our future.

Play the game and donate at www.greatfutures.org/backtoschool. While you’re there, find out more about what the Boys & Girls Club of America does in  your community. They may be just what you’re looking for.

  1. I think the Boy’s and Girl’s Club is one of the best organizations for kids. They really do so much for underprivileged kids. I did the quiz.
