Cody Wyoming Hotels: I was provided a 3-night stay at the Chamberlin Inn, a historic boutique hotel in Cody, Wy, to facilitate this review as part of the #CenteroftheWest Familiarization trip. All opinions are my own. Read more about my Cody trip and experiences – Center of the West Fam Trip
In June of 2013 I visited Cody, Wyoming and during my time there I fell in love with the little town with the big history. A good part of why I loved the town was the historic boutique hotel where we stayed.
The Chamberlin Inn is a historic hotel located in downtown Cody, but it’s far from old. It’s the only perfectly preserved hotel there – all the charm from its historic start, but brought to modern times in a perfectly pristine and comfortable way. Its 1900’s charm and decor are maintained and upgraded to make for an amazing stay.
Cody Wyoming Hotels: Chamberlin Inn Rooms & Amenities
The rooms at the Chamberlin Inn are as unique as they are comfortable. From standard queen rooms to separate garden, loft apartments and honeymoon cottage, every room has the most comfortable bed you’ll ever sleep on. Plus they’re outfitted in fabulous organic sheets (the sheets are for sale in their gift shop – a queen size set will set you back about $250 but they are worth every penny). The sheets alone made for an amazing sleep, but paired with the fabulous pillows and mattress, it was truly one of the most luxurious sleeps I’ve ever had.
I especially loved that the Chamberlin Inn uses all natural cleaning products that are biodegradable and phosphate-free cleaning products and certified 100% recycled paper products in addition to luxury shampoos and soaps. The rooms are spotless, comfortable, and fresh flowers are provided upon your arrival as well as a small box of amazing Belgium chocolates (additional chocolates are available in their gift shop).
The staff at the Chamberlin Inn are welcoming, informative, attentive, and friendly. Every encounter I had with them ended with me smiling. From the time I locked my key in my room to finding out I’d left my cellphone behind, every contact was perfection.
The Chamberlin Inn Spirits Lounge Conservatory was one of my favorite places to hang out by myself or with a friend (that’s Emily from Clever Housewife with the olives), even on the one day it drizzled. The patio and courtyard were exquisite and well maintained and small bites were available along with wine, beer, and soft drinks. It’s defiantly a must-visit spot while you’re in Cody, even if you’re not staying at the hotel.
Additional common areas are as welcoming and a great place to gather. My favorite was the sun room with its piano and the library. Every room is outfitted with antiques, books, and photos. I wished I’d had more time to really discover them all.
Cody WY Hotels: My Experience at the Chamberlin Inn
I stayed in room 22, a Standard Queen room, which rents for $185 a night during the summer. Queen Suites and the Hemingway King Studio are $275 and up. As compared to the other historic hotel in downtown Cody, the rates are comparable. What’s different is the utter luxury of this hotel and the sparkling clean nature. I toured the other historic hotel and would have been utterly disgusted to pay these rates because of the condition.
The room has so many antique touches that make it charming. From the working telephone, to the push button light switch, and the radiator. But there are modern amenities too. A small flat screen TV with remote and Wi-Fi in all rooms makes it a convenient place to work and relax from. My room had a step in shower, but several rooms have gorgeous clawfoot bathtubs. There’s also one available in the hall bathroom.
There was one small downside to the room. The view from my room was an alley with several large dumpsters. I made the mistake of sleeping with my window open one night instead of using the air-conditioning and I was awakened by the smell rotting garbage. That said, keep the sheer blinds pulled (this is the perfect place for bottom up blinds – the view out of the top of the window is of the lovely WY sky) and the window closed and enjoy the superb service and decor of the hotel.
This small and elegant hotel gets my vote for the best historic hotel accommodations in Cody, WY.
