The CW is bringing back one of my family’s favorite shows on TV, WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY?  But this time it’s hosted by Aisha Tyler ( The Talk) instead of Drew Carey. Cary hosted the original ABC version which ran for 8 seasons on TV in the US.  If you are too young to have watched the original show, which aired from 1988 to 2004, let me tell you a bit about it. First it’s based on a UK show which had a splendid blend of British humor and slapstick fun. The show was reformatted a bit for the US audience, but the basis of the show is the same.

It’s an hour of spontaneous improve games were the players are prompted by random ideas from the host or the audience and then they have to run with the idea until the host gets bored or they run out of material. That rarely happens, but what does is some of the sillies TV around. The host assigns random points and then winners are chose for the final round.

On TV: Who’s Line Is It Anyway Premiere Date

The premiere date has not been announced. We only know that the show has been sold and that there will be four performers in each show with a special guest star each episode. Featured players returning include Wayne BradyRyan Stiles, and Colin Mochrie and I’m guessing Drew Carey will make a cameo or two as will some of the other original stars.

WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY? is executive produced by Dan Patterson, Mark Leveson, Jimmy Mulville, Ryan Stiles and Wayne Brady

Will you be tuning in to the CW this summer to check out the show? I’m sure I’m not the only fan of the original series who’s looking forward to seeing these fellows older and hopefully funnier and at the same time I hope they’ve updated the show a bit and improved the stage and props. Some of them were a bit cheesy back in the day.

What’s your favorite show on TV that’s been cancelled that you’d love to see resurrected?
