It’s great to see that a childhood icon like Curious George is still popular. In fact, the little monkey is the number one series for preschoolers and it’s currently in its seventh season on PBS KIDS®. To celebrate, PBS will air a special episode on February 4, 2013.
The episode, “Where’s the Firedog?” is a story about Blaze, the firehouse pup who keeps getting away. Blaze ends up at the animal shelter and it’s up to George and his firefighter friend to put a tag on her collar and then make sure she’s leashed so it doesn’t happen again. The episode’s intention is to teach kids about best pet care practices in a fun and entertaining way and to introduce them to animal shelters and the work they do there.

That same day, a special episode about germs is also airing. With the current cold and flu season being one of the worst in some time, it’s a timely topic. In “Toot Toot Tootsie Goodbye,” we’re reintroduced to Toots, the blues-singing germ. He’s back and the Man with the Yellow Hat has a cold. But George chases Toots out of the Man but that just leads to him to look for another home inside someone else. George will need to stop Toots before someone else catches his infectious tune! This episode’s theme is about learning to stay healthy
