I don’t go to many blogging conferences mostly because of the cost. I think the vast majority of them are a great way to network and learn, but it’s hard to justify $1K+ per conference for airfare, conference fees, and hotels.

This year I’ve made the decision to attend two conferences because the benefits outweigh the costs. Plus, one is in my own backyard so that saves me quite a few dollars in travel costs!

I’ll be attending the International Food Blogger’s Conference (IFBC) here in Seattle. Organized by Foodista.com and Zephyr Adventures, this is their second time here in Seattle, and their fifth annual conference.  I chose this conference because of the educational sessions on writing, technology, and of course food; however, I’m also looking forward to the networking opportunities.

I’m planning on growing as a food blogger and plan to stretch my skills and talent and I believe this is the conference that can help me do that. I took a little time to do a search for reviews from last year’s conference in Portland and I was blown away by all of the people who raved about the quality content provided. That sold me!

The conference will be held at the gorgeous W Hotel in downtown Seattle on September 20-22, 2013. This just happens to be the time of year when Seattle truly shines. We generally have amazing Indian Summers and the area is stunning.

Session information is shaping up fabulously. So many great options already. I’m definitely interested in attending the Food Photography and Cooking Demo with Andrew Scrivani and Food Wishes Chef John Mitzewich. I can’t help by improve my skills after this session.

Plus I’ll likely schedule the session with the California Olive Ranch. It’s a chance to taste their artisan olive oils plus hear about the cutting edge technology they use to create it.

I’m feeling very comfortable about my choice and I promised myself I’m going to go and absorb as much as possible and meet as many bloggers as possible.
