My children may be adults now, but there were plenty of Christmases when we were faced with big empty stockings and even emptier wallets. So we did what my parents did; we bought everyday items that the kids could use year-round. But we bought them fun ones.
As an example, my kids got decorative bandages at Christmas and plain ones the rest of the year. In their day it was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Disney. These days there are plenty of fun ones to choose from. These are the ones that make boo boos better.
Another healthy but fun stocking stuffer is some fabulous [amazon_link id=”B0044XHG5G” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Tom’s of Maine Silly Strawberry toothpaste[/amazon_link]. It’s fun for kids but it doesn’t have any of the nasty artificial colors, artificial flavors, and preservatives the others do. At only $3.99 a tube, it’s an inexpensive addition that’s made especially for ages 2 to 6 (although teens will love it too :)). While you’re helping them see the importance of taking care of their teeth, add a Tom’s of Maine Naturally Clean Toothbrush. Why? These new toothbrushes are BPA free and the handles are colored with mineral-based pigments and they cost just $3.99 as well).
I’m happy to support Tom’s of Maine because they products that are environmentally responsible and they give back to the community.
Do I really give the kids gifts like these. Yep! They’re adults now and they still get healthy stocking stuffers. This year it’s organic goat’s milk soap, organic hand lotion and organic lip balm, but don’t tell them!

Tom’s of Maine very sweetly sent me 2 tubes of Silly Strawberry Toothpaste and one Soft Tom’s of Main Toothbrush (the box is a little squished from the mail). My kids and I are mint paste lovers, plus I’d like a child to get to try this out, so I’d like to give it to one of you. Plus I’ll add a $10 gift card of my own so that you have a little something to buy a few more stocking stuffers with. Because I’d like to get this to you before Christmas, we’ll make this a 7 day giveaway.

I do some small items.
I always like to include a toothbrush in the stocking. I also like to toss in art supplies. We do grown-up stockings too and I do bath & body products and food.
Yes, we give our kids pratical stuff. I usually give my kids school supplies that are running low like crayons since we homeschool.
I always put an orange in each kids’ stocking. I think it goes back to my love of Laura Ingalls Wilder. I just think every kid should get an orange in his/her stocking.
I do – toothbrushes, toothpaste (lol), lotion, and other knick knacks that is needed, and at his age, he can appreciate them.
Absolutely! It’s great to pick up things on clearance – on the endcaps of Target- things that are little but necessities. They make great stocking stuffers!
Of course. They enjoy getting practical things just as much as anything else they get.

I love giving my kids practical stocking stuffers but Santa always leaves each of them a Webkin.

We always fill my daughter’s stocking with practical gifts.
Absolutely. It’s a great way to fill those stockings. When my older kids hit the teen years they could always count on finding things like deodorant, razors and floss as well as some fun stuff in their stockings.
I give my kids lots of chocolate in their stockings (that’s practical, right?), toothpaste would go well with that 🙂 But, other than the chocolates I sometimes put little practical things like mini staplers or mini notebooks.
I do give my kids practical gifts for stocking stuffers as well as fun gifts.
My kids always get some socks in their stockings, along with the fun stuff.
If I had kids I would give them a mix of practical and whimsical 🙂
we use toothbrushes as stocking stuffers
