Who says  holiday wreaths have to go on a door? Here’s my wreath with candles, cranberry balls and faux ice crystals as a table decoration.

I got myself a little gift this Christmas – the gift of a gorgeous wreath to decorate my front door. I couldn’t help myself. I got the chance to check out the Pro Flowers online site and I wanted something I could buy that would look great from the end of November until January, so a wreath was perfect.

Granted, it’s not the only thing I had in my cart. At one time I had a fabulous natural basket filled with potted herbs for the kitchen. I will admit more than once I wished I’d chosen it – what a luxury to pick fresh herbs in December! The kitchen herb basket is no longer available on the  website so I’m really sorry I didn’t order it! I also had another Christmas basket full of flowering plants that would have been something we could enjoy for years (or until I forgot to water it for too long).

Did you notice a pattern? I’m not a cut flower person. You’ll laugh, but it makes me sad that cut flowers die so quickly, so plants and evergreen decorations are perfect for me.

Pro Flowers Makes Ordering Easy

What I like about ordering from Pro Flowers is you see exactly what you’ll be receiving. You choose options like the color or style of the vase and the number of blooms or plants and the photo that accompanies the listing changes to reflect your choices. What a luxury to have a visual confirmation of the order before committing to purchasing.

I also appreciate that charges are kept up-to-date as choices change and that coupons are readily available to keep costs down. I was able to find a 20% off coupon which saved me $14 on my wreath purchase – that’s the equivalent of free shipping!

Pro Flowers orders are delivered by FedEx or UPS so they are generally more expensive to deliver if you need them within a day or two; however, they do have an optional local service available if you need same- or next-day delivery. The selection is smaller than the full site and they’re fulfilled by a local florist who have been contracted with Pro Flowers.

My Delivery

My wreath was detained so Pro Flowers sent me an email with my new delivery date (the next day) plus a voucher for a future discount for the inconvenience. I thought that was a nice touch.

The box arrived with care instructions for the wreath and a green plastic over-the-door-hanger which I thought was a really great thing to provide since I have no clue where my holiday hanger is.

Alternative Ways to Display Holiday Wreaths

The wreath arrived fresh, well made, and included all of the elements the website promised. I initially hung it on my front door but I realized that I wanted to enjoy it so I brought it inside. Plus, our real Christmas tree never made it into the house (read: Christmas Tree Shopping – We’ve Gone Real!). The fireman just couldn’t do it, so it sits on our deck decorated with lights and our fake tree is up inside the house. That means the only evergreen fragrance in the house is now emanating from the wreath.

I placed the wreath on our round coffee table and put a console bowl in the center filled with three large candles and fresh cranberries. Then I added the cranberry balls I made a week ago (see DIY Craft: Fresh Cranberry and Ice Christmas Ball Decorations Tutorial) and sprinkled a bit of the faux ice around ( I need to use some hot glue next time). I think holiday wreath looks fabulous as a table decoration and the large size is certainly part of its appeal.

You could also use it above the fireplace, near the entryway with a table stacked with gifts in front of it, or on the dining room table with hurricane glass candles (for safety!). Always keep open flames away from natural as well as artificial wreaths.
