Portland Roasting Coffee Company Holiday Roast Coffee to benefit Central City Concern

We love supporting companies that are doing good work and that’s why this year, for the second year in a row, we’re sharing with you the good deeds of the Portland Roasting Coffee Company. They’re holding their 5th Annual Holiday Roast Fundraiser with the goal of raising $5,000 to launch the Central City Concern branded coffee line.

This new venture, a collaboration between the Portland Roasting Coffee Company and the Central City Concern (CCC), is slated to launch in January with the goal of putting CCC graduates in the position of learning about the coffee trade including evaluating taste, sales and distribution, and packaging. Skills they can transfer to finding employment.

To raise the funds, the PRCC is selling their full bodied Holiday Roast Coffee at local stores in the Portland area. You can find this specially marked blend at New Seasons, Zupan’s Markets, Fred Meyer (Stadium & Hawthorne), Sheridan Fruit Company, Lamb’s Garden Home and Made In Oregon stores. Want to help but don’t live in Oregon? You can by purchasing their coffee online at www.portlandroasting.com

We love the Portland Roasting Coffee Company for more than their coffee. In fact, we don’t even drink coffee, but we love that they ethically source their products and they give back to the community – locally and globally. They also became a carbon neutral company in 2008 by planting 16,900 shade trees in coffee growing areas and their goal is to continue the process. They stick to that commitment by delivering  in carbon-neutral B-line trikes and they have waste reduction processes in place to keep them from adding to the landfill.

Their coffee was  awarded Roaster of the Year, 2012 by  Roast Magazine so their coffee is as good as their hearts.
