GlobalGiving: Safe and Easy Charitable Gifts and Donations #globalgiving

Prescreened Charitable Organization - Make a safe holiday donation

Holiday gift giving can be overwhelming but I’ve tried to make it more meaningful by giving each of my kids and husband a gift that gives back. It allows me the opportunity to set aside some of the funds I would have spent on Christmas gifts for them to do good for others. In the past we’ve given malaria nets, water wells, and stoves for impoverished 3rd world countries; but, we’ve also given closer to home for animals and people displaced by natural disasters.

Gifts That Give Back

This year I’ve already “purchased” a goat for my youngest son but I’m still shopping for charitable gifts for my husband, oldest son, and my youngest son’s fiancé. I like to make the donation meaningful for the person and I like to get them a little trinket to denote their donation.

Give the gift of learning this holiday season - make a $25 donation to keep kids in schoolI found just the thing for my future daughter-in-law tonight from GlobalGiving. A small, hand-painted rocks that was made by children who’ll benefit from the funds. The $50 we donated with help child refugees in the Philippines stay in school. I think she’ll love the gift and the hand-painted rocks will be a reminder that she’s doing good a world away. I hope it encourages her to make a habit of giving as well.

But what if you’re not sure what charity is dear to your recipient’s heart? Purchase a GlobalGiving gift card that lets him/her make the donation to the charity that speaks to his/her heart. There are thousands of charitable projects to choose from and the best part is they’re pre-screened charities, in the US and abroad, so your donation is safe.

Purchasing is easy. GlobalGiving accepts credit/debit cards and PayPal and you’ll receive a receipt immediately after purchase via email which shows your charitable spending. It couldn’t be easier to support some well deserving charities this holiday season and it’s a great way to show your kids that there’s a huge world outside and that they can help those who don’t have the privileges they enjoy.

    • So very, very true. What we spend in a day on fast food will feed an entire family for a month. I give because I can and it’s a privilege to be able to help others.

  2. i love the thoughtful idea of helping the needy and ,making their life better.
