I hate the telephone. I hate how its ring stops whatever’s going on in our home and demands our attention; however, I realize I’m in the minority and once you get me on the phone, I love to chat. My issue with phones is how inconvenient they are. They limit my movement just by their design and I resent that. Thankfully I recently received a set of phones that just may make me rethink my love/hate relationship with my home phone.
First, we have a home phone for security reasons and that’s not likely to change any time soon. We have two non-electric phones in case of a power outage and we’ve been through several handheld systems in the last few years and they were all disappointing. In fact, I’d just about given up on finding a great handheld phone until I received the VTech LS6475-3 Multitasking telephone system. It’s a phenomenal system that works with our existing phones, was easy to set up and program, and has features I didn’t even know I needed but now I can’t imagine living without.
The system comes with two handheld phones that are slim and sleek with an easy-to-read digital readout, nicely spaced buttons, and great volume and tone quality. Additionally, it comes with a “home base” that includes a digital answering machine and headset. It also includes a remote base for the second handset.
The feature that surprised me most and the one I love is the talking caller ID. I love hearing who it is who’s calling before I go rushing through the house to answer the phone. I also love the digital answering machine and have used it to replace our current voicemail. I love being able to screen calls and I’ll save a about $10 dollars a month on my monthly home phone bill by taking off the current voicemail and call-forwarding features we’re paying for.
The battery life on my new VTech LS6475-3 Multitasking Phone System telephone is amazing. I’ve left handsets out of the charger for days and been rewarded with a phone that works when I need it. I love the size, shape, and balance of the phone and the way it fits into either charger. The speaker phone on each handset is so handy and I love that I can transfer calls from one handset to another and they can be used to communicate to each other like walkie-talkies – you know when the hubby’s in the garage yelling at you to see if he’s found the right circuit breaker? Yea, now you can do it with the two handsets – I love that!
I easily added contacts and set up speed dial without needing to refer to the instruction book, but it’s included should you need it. But the best part of the system is the headset/earphone that allows you to “wear” the phone and go about your business while you chat or take a business call.
The range of the set is as good as any we’ve had in the past and thankfully it doesn’t interfere with any of the other numerous wireless items in our home. So far I haven’t found a single problem and I don’t have any complaints – it works as advertised and looks great!
By the way, but if you have a mom who likes convenience and you want to stay connected with her, consider the VTech LS6475-3 Multitasking Phone System for Mother’s Day. And if you’re one of my kids reading this, how about another handset for the basement? :

I’ll keep this one in mind as look for a new phone.
I’m loving it….especially the battery life! My last phone was horrible and always DOA
I have been looking and looking for a new phone system for our home — what we have now is grossly inadequate for our needs – this sounds like a great one to try! Thanks for a great review!
PS — the headset capability? Did you try it out? Was it comfortable or did it seem too tight?
Oops, I kinda glossed over that feature, sorry. It comes with an overthehead option or ear only – I opted for the ear only. It has three different sizes of ear clips and ear canal fittings so you pick the pieces that work for you. It’s definitely a one-person feature since it’s inserted in the ear and it’s set to size for one person.
