Tony Bennets Grammy-nominated CD Duets II ran to the top of the Billboard Album Charts when it debuted.  This history-making album puts the stars of today, from all areas of music, together with the legendary  85-year-old Bennet.

Tony Bennett: Duets II,  will be broadcast on PBS’s popular Great Performances show this week.  This behind-the-scenes film will  feature the singer’s greatest hits, all performed with some of today biggest stars from country, pop, soul, opera, and more.  Standout performers including Sheryl Crow, John Mayer, Michael Buble, Willie Nelson,  Norah Jones, k.d. lang,  Josh Groban, Faith Hill, Queen Latifah, Alejandro Sanz, Carrie Underwood and more.  On Friday, January 27, 2012, you can see the vocal sessions which were filmed to capture these remarkable entertainers singing together with the master of the Great American Songbook.  The special airs on PBS at 9 p.m.  (check local listings).

  • The album took in excess of six months to record
  • The tracks were recorded in person and together in studios around the world, including LA, Nashville, and London.
  • The program includes Amy Winehouse’s last recording session.  The song, “Body and Soul”, was filmed and recorded at London’s renowned Abbey Road Studios,
  • The  segments include insights about the recording process from the artists
  • Oscar-winning cinematographer Dion Beebe of “Chicago,” “Memoirs of a Geisha,” and “Collateral” filmed the recording session.
  • Bennet is entering his 7th-decade as a recording artist with an excess of 100 albums and he’s earned 15 Grammy Awards including the Grammy Lifetime Achievement
