Seattle is no doubt one of the top destination for vacation. Beyond that Seattle is very family-friendly and a perfect destination to visit with kids of all age. There are so many things to do with kids that you will find that you will want to stay longer to enjoy all the fun.
But we all know that family vacation can incur a lot of cost and expense. Even after using various Seattle Daily Deals to bring down the cost, it can still add up on family activities. So we have scouted around to find some budget friendly ways to enjoy Seattle without breaking a bank.
5 Free or Cheap Things to Do with Kids in Downtown Seattle
1. Enjoy Live Entertainment at Pike Place Market
Pike Place Market is a must-visit for visitors and local. It’s one of the tourist attraction that still love and use by locals. Stroll along the market stall for fresh produce and taste the local fruits. Kids will surely enjoy watch many live entertainers who perform all around the market. Want to know where to find them? Look on the floor and hunt for the musical note sign. That’s where they will be. It’s also a great place to find cheap eats in Seattle with fresh and local produce.
2. Architecture wonder at Seattle Central Public Library
It might not be your typical destination to visit local library during your vacation but trust me you will want to check out the Seattle Central Public Library. The building itself is way cool to pass up. The children section is huge and well-design with bright color for little readers. Also don’t miss story time in a cozy nook.
3. View of the Bay at Olympic Sculpture Park
Pack up a picnic lunch or dinner for a fun outdoor meal at the Olympic Sculpture Park where you can enjoy the amazing view of the Elliot bay. Kids (and adults) will enjoy explore the various sculptures around the park courtesy of SAM (Seattle Art Museum).
4. Free day at Seattle Art Museum
Even if you are not an art lover, a visit to Seattle Art Museum is a must. Especially, just to say hi to the Hammering Man in front of the museum. Plus it’s free to visit the first Thursday of every month, who can say no to that. Make sure to also take advantage of free public tour by checking on their schedule.
5. Free Admission to Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park
Exploring the Pioneer Square, the historic part of Seattle, is a fun thing to do without incurring a lot of expense. One of the fun thing that family don’t want to miss is a visit to Klondike Gold Rush museum. The exhibits to the life and journey of the Klondike Gold Rush era are both informative and interactive. Kids will enjoy learning while playing with various hand-on exhibits. The best part is that the admission is FREE.

You posted ALL my favorites!! No doubt you’ve seen the bridge troll – have a pic on my FB page and was amazed to find how many of my friends in Seattle didn’t know anything about it! Luv being able to scout out things that even the “locals” haven’t seen. You’ll definitely be on the best mom list when the kids are comparing parents. Such a great example of quality family time.
