Who says an “almost” fat- free chocolate chip cookie can taste as good as a full-fat chocolate chip cookie? We do! We’ve swapped out the traditional butter with unsweetened applesauce. For sweetness, we’ve used Stevia powder and for better health, dark chocolate chips (not semi-sweet or milk chocolate). You can find dark chocolate chips online or in stores who carry organic and fair trade chocolate.
This chocolate chip cookie recipe is easy to make and is a great way to enjoy a little sweet treat without a huge calorie investment. This recipe makes 40 small chocolate chip cookies – plenty for now and more for the freezer. Wrap airtight and enjoy your cookies within two months of baking for the best taste.
It doesn’t seem that 1/2 teaspoon Stevia powder is enough sweetness. I thought applesauce was to replace sugar, not butter. I have used 1 cup mashed banana to replace butter.
I’ll try the recipe as is and see if I like it.
in the directions you say slowly add butter…but in the ingredients there is no butter amounts? help…im in the middle of making them and don’t know what to do next! 🙂
So sorry! Hopefully, you figured out that it was the applesauce and not butter that was to be added slowly. The applesauce is used in place of the butter for the moistness, and that’s why they’re fat-free. My apologies!
Can’t wait to try these! Always looking for healthier sweets
This sounds super healthy! If it tastes as good, it’s a keeper! Thanks for sharing 🙂 Stumbled 🙂
