FRESCHETTA®has some new pizzas out and I got the chance to give one of them a try. Since I”m a vegetarian, their FRESCHETTA® Simply Inspired Classic Bruschetta pizza with its tomatoes, garlic pesto, roma tomatoes, garlic pesto sauce, and a blend of cheeses would fit the bill. The hubby picked up the pizza from the store and popped it in the oven.

FRESCHETTA®has what they call FRESCH-TASTE SEAL™ Packing. It’s meant to keep the quality of the toppings at their freshest and be more environmentally friendly by using 30% less packaging material than similar frozen pizzas. It must have worked, the tomatoes were delicious and didn’t taste like they’d been previously frozen. The hubby did mention that unlike most pizza, this one wasn’t shrink-wrapped so that all the toppings were squished. This one was loose with a “lift-here” pull tab on the plastic overwrap. It opened easily, but the hubby did mention that if you store the pizza on its side, or try to read the directions on the back of the box before you remove it, the toppings could all fall to one side. He also mention that he liked seeing the actual pizza through the box and not just a picture of what the pizza looks like in a photography studio – frozen pizzas never look like the ones on their boxes.]

What I liked about the pizza is that it has a really, really, really thin crust….just like I like it! Besides being lighter in calories, it means more topping to crust ratio. Mmmmmm……I also loved the sauce. Sweet but with a little spicy kick. There was just the right amount of cheese as well. Mine did have some large pieces of garlic, but to me that’s a good thing! Totally delicious.

There are eight flavors so if you’re a meat lover, there’s a flavor for you as well. Check their website for locations carrying the new FRESCHETTA® Simply Inspired pizza line. You can even search by the exact pizza you’re looking for. All of the pizzas are readily available in our area.

Will I eat one again? Probably. It tastes great but it they use artificial colors and I’m trying to avoid them, so it will be a once-in-a-while treat or last minute dinner. The ingredients are listed on the website for all of the pizzas so you can check them out before you purchase to make sure they meet your individual dietary needs.

I’m hoping that FRESCHETTA® continues the process and moves toward a pizza with even less chemicals and preservatives. The FRESCHETTA® Simply Inspired pizza line is a nice start!
